Automotive Mechanical Design Engineer – Vehicle Bodywork, Chassis, Suspension, Air Conditioning – Solidworks / 3D CAD – Permanent – Scotland / Scottish Borders.
Profile: Leading automotive vehicle modifications company currently requiring a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on a Permanent basis in the Western Scotland / Scottish Borders area. Working across a wide range of vehicles and automotive products to include Bodywork, Chassis, Suspension, Air Conditioning and more, you will be responsible for Design from concept to CAD and FEA / CAE work, through to customer acceptance, in a diverse and challenging role.
The Role: You will be a skilled and experienced Automotive Mechanical Design Engineer, able to produce concept designs from customer requirements and progress these through to detailed production design drawings, bill of materials / BOM and customer acceptance, in a role requiring excellent communication and customer liaison abilities.
You must have previous experience within the design of automotive systems, and be qualified to HNC, HND or Degree Level, ideally with a Professional Membership status or working towards it.
Ideally you will have experience within CAD Design to include Solidworks, or other packages such as Solid Edge, Pro-Engineer, CATIA or Autocad 3D, and should be computer literate, able to use MS Office and ideally FEA / CAE / FMEA Tools.
Further, the role will involve all aspects of specification writing, decision making, design for function and design for manufacture, in a role which will utilise all of your skills and abilities.
Requirements:
•Previous Automotive product / system mechanical design experience.
•Qualified – HNC / HND / Degree / Professional Membership / Chartered.
•Concept and CAD Design skills - ideally Solidworks or similar.
•CAE / FEA / FMEA skills would be advantageous.
