Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Contract Length: 6 months
Rate: £15 - £18p/h
Based: Huyton
Start Date: July 2009
Our client is a global supplier of systems and services to the aerospace, defence and homeland security markets. They are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer initially on a 6 month contract. The assignment will be based in Huyton and our client would like the successful candidate to commence as soon as possible. The rate on offer is between £15 - £18 per hour.
The Manufacturing Engineer is required to facilitate the integration of new products and support existing product lines on the module. Also to work closely on continuous improvement programmes related to manufacturing, quality and logistics. You will be working on all aspects concerning existing units and product introduction.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Delivery and implementation of Manufacturing Engineering projects (preparation of manufacturing documentation, CNC programmes and capability studies)
• Work to meet program milestones to schedule and budget within a cross functional team
• Develop manufacturing processes, ensuring all tooling / gauging and appropriate systems and process are available on time
• Responsible for the module teams and technician's understanding and compliance of all customer requirements
• Identify all customer quality requirements
• Develop working practices that are appropriate to a Lean manufacturing environment including Lean events and Risk Assessments.
Qualifications / Personal Characteristics:
• Qualified to HND or above (or equivalent)
• Able to read Engineering drawings and CMM's reports
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques (CNC Milling, CNC Grinding, CNC Turning, Gear Cutting and special processes Heat treatment, Plating), ability and demonstrated capability to plan a method of manufacture to meet all drawing requirements
• Jig, fixture and tools design is also required to support manufacture
• Some knowledge of CAD/CAM packages would be advantageous, although training on specific packages will be available
• Knowledge of new product introduction (NPI)
• Experience of Fanuc, Mazak and Okuma controls for CNC 3, 4 or 5 Axis machines
• Experience of machine programming and proving.
