My client who are based in Edinburgh, and are leading the way in cutting edge technology for the renewable wave energy market, require a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their expanding team.
The role will the design, manufacture, test and commissioning of medium and low voltage electrical equipment. The successful applicant will have experience of liaising with utilities, transmission and distribution organisations and ensuring compliance to relevant codes and legislations is adhered too.
The role includes but is not limited to the following;
• Design, specify, test and commission electrical equipment, with a specific focus on the medium voltage interfaces on the converter and at the substation.
• Undertake studies for the connection to the grid systems
• Prepare functional specifications for the software control of equipment
• Ensure design, test and commissioning work is carried out with the appropriate risk/regulatory standards in place.
• Develop further standards and procedures for the design and construction of electrical equipment in an offshore environment
The ideal candidate will have;
• Degree in electrical engineering
• Experience in low/medium equipment design
• An understanding of the issues of generating and integrating into the grid
• You will be confident at power system calculations, specification of electrical equipment ratings and design of protection systems and metering
• Knowledge of medium voltage (11kv) switching, isolation and permit to work systems.
• Scada and Cad electrical drawing packages
It would be advantageous, if you had any knowledge on sub sea power distribution and grid connection issues, offshore electrical equipment would also be useful.
