Senior Electrical Engineer / Power Systems Engineer – Design, Manufacture, Test & Commissioning of Medium – Low Voltage Renewable Energy and Electrical Power Generation Equipment – Edinburgh - £30-37K + Bfts.
Profile: A leading name in the field of renewable energy electrical power generation and distribution, my client currently has a requirement for a Senior Electrical Engineer / Power Systems Engineer to work, based in Edinburgh, on the Electrical Design, Manufacture, Test and Commissioning of Electrical Power generation equipment and its integration into the National Grid.
Role: This role will involve the design, specification, test and commissioning of low-medium voltage electrical equipment and its interfaces, undertaking studies for connection of the equipment to the national grid, and preparing functional specifications for the software control of the equipment.
Further, you will be liaising with utilities, transmission and distribution organisations for the development of new projects, and ensuring that all design, test and commissioning work is carried out with the appropriate risk assessments and to the appropriate regulatory standards, whilst looking at grid connection issues and power distribution system requirements.
You will be using your knowledge, skills and experience to develop innovative ways to produce robust systems that can operate reliably in harsh environments, including offshore.
Requirements:
•Ideally Educated to degree Level in Electrical Engineering – or with excellent experience in this field.
•5 Years + Industrial Experience in Low and Medium Voltage equipment design and specification.
•Good practical understanding of the issues relating to power generation and its integration into the National Grid.
•Competent at Power Systems Calculations, Specification of Electrical Equipment Ratings, and Design of Protection Systems & Metering.
•Knowledge of power Transmission, Distribution, Medium Voltage Switching, Isolation & Permit to Work systems.
•Experience of SCADA Systems, 11KV Systems and / or Offshore Electrical Equipment would also be useful.
•Good IT Skills, familiar with CAD Electrical Drawing Packages.
