SKILLS REQUIRED
Essential
Technical - deep and diverse technical knowledge required with the following skill sets:
Experience of supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008; Windows XP/7; Exchange 2003/2007; Active Directory; Checkpoint firewalls; Backup Exec; Dell OpenManage.
Experience of financial services technology and / or market data experience.
Problem solving: innovative approach to problem solving required; capable of setting hypotheses,
testing and analysing results in order to find solutions. Will readily approach internal and external
parties to help resolve problems.
Desirable
Experience of supporting web applications written in asp.Net.
Experience of database administration, SQL query construction and stored procedures using SQL Server 2005.
Experience of scripting, XML and batch processing.
Experience of SFTP / FTP / PGP.
Experience of working in a software development environment advantageous.
THE ROLE
This role is based in the busy London office, and exists to provide first and second line support of the company's Technology Desktop, Server Infrastructure and Business Systems.
Provide support for desktop and systems administration, information security management, business continuity and technology support for internal networks.
Provide direct client-facing support for the company's products to ensure successful client deployment and adoption.
Provide hands-on support of web applications, proprietary software, databases, database servers, web servers and related technologies to the business.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide hands-on desktop, systems and network administration of internal networks and infrastructure. Proactively monitor systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
Provide high level of customer service and technology operations support to the London office and its clients. Respond to external client security and support requests within agreed SLAs. Provide onsite support for UK-based clients who are adopting new products to ensure quicker
product adoption, where required.
Provide hands-on support of web applications, proprietary software, databases, database servers, web servers and related technologies to the business. Analyse and respond to exception messages from live systems. Deploy, configure and maintain the company's proprietary web applications and databases.
Incident and change request tracking, fault identification and resolution. Write major incident reports, knowledge base articles and requirements specifications for new support tools.
Evaluate and assess new technology solutions.
Assist with information security management, business continuity planning, technology vendor
management and IT budget preparation.
