Position: Analyst Programmer
Location: Edinburgh
Salary: £30 - £35K plus benefits
I am currently recruiting for a fantastic position within the largest mutual life and pensions provider in the UK as an Analyst Programmer. The role involves the successful candidate to develop and maintain software throughout the entire software development lifecycle.
This is a permanent position which will pay a salary of between £30 to £35k per annum as well as an excellent benefits package which includes a bonus scheme, pension and annual review of salary.
The main duties of an Analyst Programmer include:
• Development and maintenance of software adhering to development standards.
• Production of relevant documentation.
• Implementation of quality software, ensuring business readiness.
• Analysis of business requirements and technical design for enhancement and creation of internal systems.
To be successful in your application to be a Analyst Programmer the following experience is essential:
• Strong commercial experience of working within an applications development environment.
• Experience of the full software development lifecycle.
• Commercial experience in - J2EE, Unit testing frameworks (e.g. JUnit, JWebUnit, Selenium), Open source frameworks (e.g. Struts, Hibernate, log4j), XML technologies (XPath, XSL, XSD) Oracle, AJAX, JBoss, Eclipse, CVS, Subversion, MQ, Solaris, scripting languages.
• Experience of low-level software design with a good knowledge of UML, modelling tools and Design Patterns.
• Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
• Understanding of financial business systems.
• Ability to work using different methodologies (End2End, Agile-like, Waterfall).
• Ability to cope with high-levels of pressure, involving high profile projects.
• Ability to develop good relationships within the projects division and the business and with our partners.
In addition to this it is desirable that applicants have a Computer Science Degree (or equivalent),
Financial Services Business Experience and Sun Java Certicification.
